We were given this antique gun cabinet FOR FREE. Taylor’s uncle’s neighbor wanted to get rid of it. Seriously? Taylor was totally psyched I saw potential in a piece that would let him showcase his hunting guns…in our bedroom nonetheless! I loved everything about the character of the cabinet, but it needed some brightening up.
Some CeCe Caldwell chalk paint in Simply White did the trick. (This is the same paint I used on our cabinets here and a coffee table here.) It really only needed one coat because I wanted it to keep the rustic feel. The hardware didn’t even stand out to me until I painted the cabinet white. What a difference that made. That funky hardware pops now! I love it.
This corner of our room was completely empty, so we placed the cabinet catty-corner. I had bought those fun deer hooks at my favorite local store, Riffraff, not knowing what I would do with them. I just painted a scrap piece of wood from our garage. roughed it up a little bit. nailed the deer head hooks into the wood. I’m really trying to add some manly décor for my husband, lover of all things outdoors, into our house but it is so hard to do it tastefully. Even with the heart in between the hooks, he still loves it. In fact, he used the word “AMAZING.” Strong words for the hubs over here.
Do you have any tips for tastefully adding manly flair.. like fishing/hunting/antlers décor? Us girls gotta stick together!

Love your manly décor and what you did with the gun cabinet. However, I have no tips to share because my man’s room is strictly MIZZOU. Love reading your posts!
Unfortunately I have to tolerate Razorback stuff on top of the hunting and fishing.. ha!! Thanks for taking the time to read and comment. Love you!
I agree that the paint brought out the wonderful hinges. The deer hooks are neat.
What a talented sister I have! Looks great! Can’t wait to see it this weekend!
Thanks Beth! :) So excited to see you!!
